Just getting a black screen Mick.
Funny you mentioned Sheffield because a very good friend came from there.
His name is Nick Barker and he is a top guitarist .
I dont know if you are interested in Pink Floyd as they are an aquired taste but he used to put on a show called Think Floyd Solo and everything you hear is played and mixed by Nick.
Sadly, like many other performers locally, he's moved back to Sheffield and now plays in a couple of tribute rock bands. That way he can wear outlandish clothes, a wig and makeup. !
He used to play bass for a soul band called Soul Power and I suspect that Tosh Crabtree was one of the founding members who also played bass.
But I could be mistaken.

Sorry to hear that link didn't work. You probably need to sign up to Spotify to access it. I would certainly recommend signing up; you can do it for free and put up with the adverts. No worse than listening to the radio but with your own choice of music, and the choice is amazing.

As to Pink Floyd, well yes, I did acquire that taste when I was a teenager and it has never gone away. Listening to Ummagumma only the other day!

No - you're not mistaken, JamesB.
I was in fact the original Bass player with Soul Power .
I had a very happy year ( maybe a bit longer ) , with the band .
My reason for leaving was basically, I was working full time back then , and the late nights were catching up with me .
Nick Barker did take over from me , but only for a few weeks .
Then Lionel replaced him.
Nick played a 6 string Bass guitar , and from what I heard later ( don't quote me on this ) , Nick was forgetting it was a Bass, and almost always competing with J.J. on the lead breaks .
It was happy days for me back then.
I must know you Orangepicker ..if we played in your Bar .

Ha Ha - I like it JamesB.
On that subject , J.J. often got on to Elvar , about his "incorrect" chord arrangements.
When , it was Elvar who was actually right along along , with his phenomenal "ear for music".
This led to a lot of bad feeling between them , and Elvar left the band .
When Izzy joined us ( an ex music teacher ), she played exactly the same arrangements as Elvar did .
When , J.J. pulled her up about this - Izzy cooly looked him in the eye , and said - if I play a song , then I'm going to play it , as it should be played .
That was the end of that . It was never mentioned again.

Yes , JamesB . No quicker way to destroy a band ...than Ego's.

Yes Athos . I can think of several other bands that broke up , due to Ego problems.
Even the Beatles - towards the end of the 1960's.
From a great team effort in the early days , John Lennon and Paul McCartney developed a rivalry, that wasn't helped by George Harrison's ego increasing , in the latter years .

Izzy returned to the UK about 3 years ago, Freddo.
Although , she was here last year on holiday.
A great lady , and incredible musician.
It was a pleasure to work with her .
