I have the old green certificate, Michael.
I asked my Abogado about having to change it .
He advised me to just keep that, especially, if I wasn't going to be moving away from my area code , in the foreseeable future.

If you do not have the word "Permanent " on the A4 paper or the credit card it is advisable to have it changed to show Permanent as it may make the change over to the TIE card when we have to change over this year

Whatever you do don't lose it. The goalposts have been changed (although the law hasn't) and you may be asked to go through the whole rigmarole of getting all the paperwork from scratch i.e bank statements and proof of financial means to sustain yourself in Spain and private health insurance if you are not entitled to S1 depending on what office you go to. A lady said her son who has been "permanente" in Spain for 24yrs lost his Residencia Card and had to go through the whole process as if making an original application. Another person who had their wallet stolen with Residencia Card in it was also told he had to start from scratch.
