There lies the problem.
I'd avoid an electric car , purely because they're no suitable for long distance motoring .
A hybrid is a different matter .
At least fuel can be put in , whereas a charging station , you need time to wait , while the car is charging up .
How long does that take ?

Takes about 1 hour to charge at a fast charging point from a very low battery top a full one some of the new models are returning over 130 mpg on a longish journey
A friend of mine has Toyota hybrid and gets around 90 mpg

The batteries usually take up the whole floor panel and in a Telsa they just change the floor panel takes about 2 hours max

What a coincidence----had this very same conversation with my son a few weeks ago

We started off by wanting to be green and go for an electric car

Then after critical cross questioning each other --thought hybrid would be better

Didn't to too long after that to make the intelligent leap to stick with petrol for the very reasons that Athos has stated
