The Council has announced a new daily bus service between Orihuela Costa and Orihuela Town. This service will be very handy for anybody using the new AVE train service which is due to start in April from Orihuela.

Stops
Comercial Centre La Zenia Boulevard, Ayuntamiento Playas de Orihuela, Hospital Universitario de Torrevieja, Urbanización Entrenaranjos, Orihuela (bus station). 

Timetable - there will be extra times added in July and August but for now these are the tines

From Orihuela Costa to Orihuela : 7:00-13:00-19:00
from Bus Station Orihuela to Orihuela Costa: 9:30-15:25-20:55.

When I first saw the headline in the local papers, I was quite pleased as this is something that should have been done ages ago, connecting coast and city. However, looking at the timetable, it seems to be of more use to the people living in the city and Entre Naranjos who wish to visit the Boulevard for shopping or leisure purposes, than for those people living on the coast. Why would I be surprised at that?

Perhaps if the passengers numbers are good they might expand it to take in a few more areas. The bit I found odd was they said it was to stimulate the smaller businesses in Orihuela town. If the bus is bringing people to the Boulevard how can that help business in Orihuela town.
