What other forums .. I only know of one in recent times and that wasn't for the lack of members or comments ... That was a decision taken by the owner for his own reasons and his wish was to sell it on as a going concern, and it was far from dead.
Other local forums cater for different members, many of whom have got better things to do with their lives than sitting on their arse all day long talking to people on a computer screen who they have never met and sometimes dislike immensely, or playing word games.
I'm one of those people.
And the moderators that I know do an excellent job, including the one on this forum.

JamesB -- as you know I am not a regular poster nor do I look in that often hence the delay in replying --- The last forum that closed down was plagued by argument as the moderator had lost control in my opinion---later when they tried to tighten up--they alienated members who had always been polite and good members so the number of posters just dropped off a cliff----so they closed down/sold off whatever-----Freddo is doing a decent job on here but to be fair--traffic on all forums is down 95% --in the bad old day you needed 2 or more moderators per forum--- it seems that the only way to run a forum without argument is not to allow debate and discussion but just do information and enquiries--boring to many---but useful if you need info---they have hundreds of members but only a tiny percentage are active--yes different forums have different styles of moderation--Freddo will not tolerate the type of language that you used in your last comment on the other side about derek so even you know what and where to post
